How to talk about your job in English?

Next to education, everyone looks for a job that will give settlement in life, don't they?  If a person is getting a low salary, we can try the expression “paid peanuts” to refer to such a pathetic situation:

1. Many self financing staff members are squeezed and exploited to a great extent but they are paid peanuts.
2. Since he is paid peanuts, he is looking for a job in some other company.

Time heals everything. One day the same person may get a desirable position in a well reputed company where he may be paid well.  If you get the job you like, especially a well-paid one, your job can be called as “a plum job".

1. Thanks to my lucky stars, I got a plum job.
2. What’s he doing now? He’s looking for a plum job.

Remember:
1. White-collar job refers to working in office rather than In factory or workshops .
2. Blue-collar job stands for the reverse ( working in factory rather than In office)

3. Pink-collar job represents the low-paid jobs especially the one offered mainly to women (for example, a receptionist)
