 Unit - 2

Listen to the following poems and complete the information gaps:

A. The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost (Play Seconds: 0.28 to 1.35)

Two roads _________in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one _________, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as ________,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the________for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the __________.

B) Keep Going by Kate Summers

When _________ come – keep going
When you feel like ________– keep going
When people _________ your idea – keep going
When ___________ you face – keep going
When mistakes are made, learn – but keep going
Because __________ just keeps going!

C) Look Well to This Day by Kalidasa

Look well to ______ day,
For it and it alone is life.
In its brief course
Lie all the ________ of your existence:

The Glory of Growth
The __________ of Achievement
The Splendor of Beauty

For yesterday is but a _________,
And tomorrow is but a vision.
But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of __________,
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

D) Don’t Quit by Edgar A. Guest  (Play seconds: 0.49 to 1.10, and 1.50 to 2.43)

When Things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the ______ are low and debts are high,
And you want to ________ but have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Success is ________ turned inside out,
The silver tint of clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how ________ you are,
It may be near when it seems afar,
So stick to the ________ when you're hardest hit,
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.
