What do you mean by “doubting Thomas”? The expression is taken from the bible, the New Testament in which Thomas doesn’t believe that Jesus has risen from the dead until he sees him in person. If anyone doubts like him and wants strong evidence, you may call him a doubting Thomas.
1. He’s a doubting Thomas. He won’t believe what we say.
2. Be a doubting Thomas. Without proof, don’t simply forward all messages on Whatsapp and Facebook.
If you have no doubt and are certain about something, “you can bet your life" expression will be useful and “beyond/without a shadow of a doubt" also means the same.
1. I can bet my life that he will be the next chief minister.
2. Without a shadow of a doubt, everyone knows that he will win the match.
